Units

Consists of controls for settings that affect the type of units used in dimension text.

Units category controls

The active dimension settings can be set to match those of a dimension element with the Match All Element Settings tool in the Change Attributes tool box or the Match Dimension Settings tool in the Dimensioning tool box.

Use Working Units

If selected, the working units for the design file are used for the units of dimensioning. The same label as in the Working Units category of the DGN File Settings dialog box is used. In this case, the Master Units and Sub Units are dimmed. If off, you can set Master Units and Sub Units to the desired English or Metric values.

Label

Seven options for setting the format for the dimension and how it is labeled or not labeled.

Units Above: English as Primary units. Below: English as Primary units and Metric as Secondary units.

If Use Working Units is off, you can select dimension unit for the dimension and either accept the label or key in whatever label is needed.

Primary dimension units are assumed to coincide with master units.

Accuracy

Sets the accuracy with which secondary dimension text is displayed, from 0–8 decimal places or using scientific notations.

Alternate Label

Allows you to set up alternate dimensions based on the criteria that you define, providing the ability, for example, to dimension in sub-units below a certain value and in master units greater than or equal to that value. For example, if master units are set to meters but you want dimensions of less than two meters to display as millimeters, set the If distance in the drop-down menu to less than (<), enter 2 and select mu.

Show Secondary Units

If on, secondary dimension text is displayed.

Settings

Opens the Secondary Units dialog box which sets the measurement system for secondary dimension text. The fields in this dialog box are similar to the Primary group box.

Scale Factor

Sets the scale factor that is applied to dimension length.
